The new Amazee Labs website is live!

mikekus

I was recently asked by Swiss based Web Agency Amazee Labs to design their new logo/branding and website. They're a small, friendly, forward thinking web agency that specialise in building online community solutions.

I've recently been posting small tasters of the site design on Dribbble, so you might recognise parts of it. Anyway, the Amazee team ( who built the site ) have finished the build and it's now live!

Amazee Labs Homepage

The brief

Amazee supplied me with wireframes for the project but gave me total creative freedom to interpret them in any way I saw fit for the project. They wanted a site that was fun, creative and reflected their personality as a company.

I love taking on briefs like this as it allows me to get really creative. I had a ton of fun designing the site, creating the illustrations and the hand drawn typography for the main lightbulb illustration on the homepage.

People always ask about the fonts

For the titles on the website I used a lovely font called Clumsy by Kyle Steed which I think works perfectly in the context of this design. For the main strapline 'Making Your Web Work' I used the font Lietz Lindau Hamburg by Hannes Siengalewicz. The font I've used in the logo is based on a font called Lobster by Pablo Impallari which I've heavily customised. The body copy is good old Courier.

There are more screenshots of the site in my portfolio or view the live site.

Mike, beautiful piece. I’m jealous of the freedom you’re given in your projects. It must of felt great when Amazee site went live. Thumbs up =)

…I can’t subscribe to your feed, anyone else having the same problem?

Too much freedom can be bad sometimes. In this case it obviously has not been. Awesome job!

    I have some remarks though:
    - The apostrophes don’t get rendered in Opera (10.62 OSX). I guess using the the character entity code should solve this. See also: http://img.skitch.com/20100924-njwrb9rafwu6ksmukeym713bkk.jpg and http://img.skitch.com/20100924-ffask2rkiiah847wpphej3gatx.jpg

    - By default webkit-based browser let you resize the textarea letting your users mess up the design in which you put so much effort.
    textarea{resize: none;} should fix this.

@Mike Fixed. Chrome was giving me some jip (spitting out your feed in pure text, in a blank browser tab). Safari handled your feed just fine. Weird?

As ever loving your work Mike, but I would have loved even more if the lightbulb turned on in the form of a rollover when you hover over it! The moment of epiphany!

Mike, again, thank you so much for deciding to use my font for this design. I really love how it all comes together. It feels so clean and organized all with a hint of hand-drawn quirkiness, which I love. I’m not sure if you’ve seen it, but I featured this site up on http://clumsy.kylesteed.com to show off the implementation of Clumsy. Hope you have a great weekend.
