Future Insights Redesign

I was recently asked to redesign the the new Future Insights event websites for 2013. It’s a brand I’ve worked with before when I worked at Carsonified, so this project felt very familiar to me.

I really wanted to experiment with the page composition to try and create a more engaging and interesting experience for the user at desktop level. Using a very simple grid I designed a type of building block system with squares of content and large vector illustrations that related to parts of the event.

I drafted in the skills of Neil Kinnish for the front-end dev. We created a fully responsive site which also features heavy use of SVG graphics, which are lightweight and make the graphics super sharp on retina screens. The site also exists in a range of colours to represent each event type: FiLive, Future of Web Design, Future of Web Apps and Future of Mobile.

Big thanks to Neil Kinnish for all his amazing dev work, Oli Lisher who helped out with the SVG creation and great design opinions :). Also, Greg Annandale who integrated the site into the Future Insights back-end.

Yup, very nicely done. Again. As above, love the big bold imagery style. And one can’t go wrong with those beautiful icons/ illustrations either…

Very very cool. I’m pretty sure I just worked out the feature site for this weeks newsletter.

Let me know if you and Neil would be interested in a bit more in depth look at the planning and implementation as part of an interview.

Love the design, how it responds on smaller devices, the icons, imagery, flat colors, and of course the grid. Great work!
